Outspoken, liberty-loving author-rocker to pen exclusive weekly column
Exuding a love of liberty, guns and America that elicits either delight or dismay – depending on your perspective – the outspoken rock showman, humanitarian and TV host Ted Nugent debuts today as an exclusive WND columnist.
Nugent’s column, entitled “The Ted Offensive,” will appear on the news site each Thursday.
“Ted Nugent rocks,” said Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND. “And I don’t mean just as a music star. He rocks as an outspoken entertainer who is so politically incorrect. We’re honored that he would choose WND to sound off about what’s on his mind every week.”
A passionate defender of Americans’ Second Amendment rights, Nugent this week went toe-to-toe with anti-gun CNN host Piers Morgan (scroll down for video).
Nugent told Morgan: “First of all, I’ve been monitoring your gun debates. Go ahead and take it to the bank: You’ll never understand. I really don’t believe you’ll ever grasp – you don’t understand that it’s a simple inanimate tool that tens of millions of American families own that have never caused a problem, never had an accident and will never commit a crime. You have these aberrations that are such a minute percentage.”
Nugent made news last April for controversial comments he made during the NRA’s annual members meeting in St. Louis. The support Americans subsequently gave Nugent spiked sales of a “Ted Nugent for President!” bumper sticker.
In his debut column for WND today, Nugent writes about gun-control attempts: “For one free man to attempt to tell another free man what legal products he should or should not be able to own is the most gross and irresponsible bastardization of freedom I can imagine. But then again, I’m not a helpless, feckless, spineless, bloodsucking sheep waiting for direction.”

Educators vote to put armed guards in schools- Mark Zaretsky
(NEW HAVEN REGISTER) NEWTOWN — The Board of Education, with several parents who have called for additional security looking on, voted unanimously Thursday night to request police school resource officers for all four elementary schools for next year, in addition to security officers in the budget.
The Board of Selectmen still needs to approve the request because, as sworn cops, the resource officers would be in the town budget.
The resource officers would be new for Sandy Hook, Head O’Meadow, Hawley and Middle Gate elementary schools. Newtown High School, Newtown Middle School and Reed Intermediate School all already have an officer.

FACT: The Recently Proposed Assault Weapons Ban Seeks To Outlaw Presently Legal Weapons
New Senate Bill Seeks To Ban 157 Specific Weapons That Are Currently Legal. A press release on Sen. Dianne Feinstein's (D-CA) introduction of a new assault weapons ban states:
[T]he bill prohibits the sale, manufacture, transfer and importation of 157 of the most commonly-owned military-style assault weapons. Violence Policy Center: Gun Industry Launched Campaign To Attempt To Rebrand Assault Weapons As "Modern Sporting Rifles." Ted Nugent on Obama
‘When a man, can dictate to another man, an unarmed helplessness, such a dictator is dangerous’
- Mike PiccioneTed Nugent, the 64-year-old rock star and NRA board member, unloaded his opinion on current gun control measures, America’s elected leaders and gun-free zones to the team at Guns.com while at the annual SHOT show.
The SHOT show, which is being held this year in Las Vegas, is the nation’s largest shooting industry trade show, with approximately 60,000 attendees.
Nugent was a veritable gun-rights quote machine at the event.
“If you want another Concord Bridge, I’ve got some buddies,” he said. “Anyone who questions the most basic fundamental right of self-defense is a dangerous, freedom threatening, scary person that we must beat down.”
On gun free zones: “What kind of subhuman mongrel would want more of that?”

NRA MORE POPULAR THAN OBAMA; MEDIA IGNORE

According the latest Gallup survey, which was taken after the Sandy Hook murders and Wayne LaPierre's press conference, the NRA, despite being demonized 24/7 in the media, enjoys a favorability rating of 54%. Today, according to Gallup, Obama's approval rating sits at 53%.
Moreover, only 38% of those polls have an unfavorable opinion of the NRA. Obama's disapproval rating sits three points higher at 41%.

HOW OUR MEDIA MISLEAD ON GUNS
That could be a long post! For now, let’s just note one aspect of the news media’s biased gun coverage: the media frequently paint the National Rifle Association as a sinister, shadowy organization that exercises a mysterious power over legislation. Thus this Yahoo News headline on a Christian Science Monitor article:
This is silly. Obviously, Congress has the “muscle” to pass whatever it wants to, and neither “gun lobby”–either pro or con–has any power to dictate to Congress. What is happening is that the pro-gun control forces don’t have the votes for the unconstitutional legislation they would like to enact. So, rather than acknowledging that gun control is unpopular, our media moguls prefer to attribute its failure to unexplained machinations by the NRA.
Will the ignorance on firearms ever end? If they insist on writing about guns, isn’t it reasonable to expect that news organizations will employ someone, a reporter or editor, who knows something about them?

CNN'S PIERS MORGAN TO BE TAKEN OFF AIR?
Immigration group targets cable-network anchor
WASHINGTON – Officials with the conservative group Americans for Legal Immigration are challenging CNN to take Piers Morgan off the air after a controversial debate on gun control with InfoWars.com’s Alex Jones.
Jones has been just one those Morgan has brought on the air over gun control in recent days.
Following the debate with Jones, which sparked a media firestorm, Morgan featured a panel on his program including Daily Beast sports columnist Buzz Bissinger, and commentator Abby Huntsman, daughter of presidential candidate Jon Huntsman, in which Buzz joked about how someone should “pop” Jones with an “assault rifle.”
To which Abby Huntsman laughingly responded, “I’d love to see that, in uniform!”
William Gheen, president of ALIPAC, called Morgan’s segment one of the worst he’s seen in his career.
“Monitoring the media is something I have done professionally for two decades now, and in that entire time I have never seen anything as outrageous as the Piers Morgan segment joking about killing one of their guests with an ‘assault rifle’,” Gheen told WND.
Morgan and Jones engaged in a heated debate over Americans’ rights to be armed, despite Morgan being British. The ever-controversial Jones discussed a New World Order and mentioned his fear of political assassination. Morgan’s decision to feature Jones as the face of the right wing gun control position outraged many conservatives including Glenn Beck and Erick Erickson who feared he would delegitimize their case.
The gun control debate has been put back on the forefront of American politics following the Aurora, Colo., theater shooting and Newtown, Conn., school tragedy.
Those representing Second Amendment advocacy including Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the National Rifle Association, and current NRA President David Keene, have received death threats – ironically involving guns – over social media.
ALIPAC also has launched a social media effort that has gained them 65,000 Facebook followers and has clogged up lines at CNN calling for Morgan to be taken off air.
“Please call CNN to demand that Piers Morgan be fired for advocating political murder with assault rifles on last night’s show. Free speech is one thing, but we cannot allow the liberal media to take things this far against those that oppose amnesty or support gun rights etc.. Call 404.827.1500 and wait for a human operator,” Gheen encouraged.

NRA Slams Meeting with Biden
'We were disappointed with... how much (this meeting) had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment'
The National Rifle Association met with Vice President Joe Biden Thursday and it did not go well.
“We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment,” the group said in a statement released Thursday afternoon.

OBAMA'S SECRET PLAN TO RECLASSIFY YOUR GUNS
President may ban certain firearms with 1 simple move
President Obama, congressional Democrats and even some Republicans plan to push new gun-control legislation in the 113th Congress, but defenders of the Second Amendment fear Obama is poised to enact the restrictions through the Executive Branch if Congress is not cooperative.
John M. Snyder heads GunRightsPolicies.org and has worked for organizations from the National Rifle Association to the Second Amendment Foundation and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. He said Obama and his allies have already chartered what regulatory course to pursue through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF.
“We have some confidential information that he may order the ATF to reclassify certain models of semi-automatic firearms as Title 2 guns under the Gun Control Act of 1968,” Snyder told WND. “What this would mean is that people could not obtain these without going through a terribly difficult process that includes registration of each firearm and paying a severe fee for the ownership of each one.”
Snyder said an even more drastic approach from Obama would be to try to ban semiautomatic weapons altogether.
“Also, there is the possibility that the administration could try to declare that semi-automatic firearms are fully automatic firearms or machine guns under this Title 2, in which case they would be banned because of an amendment that’s on the books, the Gun Control Act of 1968.
Snyder is referring to what’s known as the Hughes Amendment, which forbids the acquisition of any new fully automatic weapons or machine guns.
The possible strategy is not a new idea, according to Snyder. He said liberal groups have advocated the move for years, but Democrats have been reluctant to pursue it because of the massive public backlash that will ensue.
“This is an ongoing project of theirs, and they use a lot of these tragedies to try to advance their cause in a public relations sense. So far they’ve been unable to do that,” said Snyder. “It appears that the public is catching on to them and they know what their game plan is, generally speaking. So a lot depends on their frustration, the political situation at the time and a number of other factors, too.”
Even if the Obama administration were to bypass Congress by imposing new regulations, there is still one card left for pro-Second Amendment forces to play: The House of Representatives could remove funding for the ATF or abolish it completely. But would the House GOP actually do that? Snyder is confident it would.
“I wouldn’t be surprised. I think the House is really furious with the president,” Snyder said. “The Republicans would like to cut budgets of the federal government because they think the federal government is taking too much money and spending too much money, and a good place for them to cut would be in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. If there is strong enough public support against the activities of the federal government, the House of Representatives will develop a plan to slash the budget of the agency. I think it’s a real possibility.”

WHITE HOUSE WEIGHS BROAD GUN-CONTROL AGENDA
Proposals under consideration are 'deeper exploration than just the assault-weapons ban'

(Washington Post) The White House is weighing a far broader and more comprehensive approach to curbing the nation’s gun violence than simply reinstating an expired ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition, according to multiple people involved in the administration’s discussions.
A working group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said.
To sell such changes, the White House is developing strategies to work around the National Rifle Association that one source said could include rallying support from Wal-Mart and other gun retailers for measures that would benefit their businesses. White House aides have also been in regular contact with advisers to New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (I), an outspoken gun-control advocate who could emerge as a powerful surrogate for the Obama administration’s agenda.

'PRY GUNS FROM COLD DEAD FINGERS?' WORKS FOR ME!
Columnist proposes killing NRA members, dragging Republicans behind pickups
DES MOINES, Iowa – For 50 years, the left-leaning columnist Donald Kaul has raged against guns, but after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, he says, it’s time for “anger,” killing gun owners and dragging legislators who disagree with gun control behind pickup trucks until they get the message.
The Pulitzer Prize-nominated columnist penned an alarming screed published in the Des Moines Register in which he further suggested the 2nd Amendment be repealed and the National Rifle Association be declared a terrorist organization.
“During my 50-year career,” Kaul wrote, “every time some demented soul would take a semiautomatic gun and clean out a post office, a school or a picnic, I’d get up on my soap box and let loose with a withering diatribe about guns, the National Rifle Association and weak-kneed politicians. Did it about 75 times, give or take.”
Yet each time, he lamented, the only result was a spike in gun sales.
“That’s obscene,” he opined. “Here, then, is my ‘madder-than-hell-and-I’m-not-going-to-take-it-anymore’ program for ending gun violence in America.”
His first step: “Repeal the Second Amendment, the part about guns anyway. It’s badly written, confusing and more trouble than it’s worth. … Surely the Founders couldn’t have envisioned weapons like those used in the Newtown shooting when they guaranteed gun rights. Owning a gun should be a privilege, not a right.”
Second: “Declare the NRA a terrorist organization and make membership illegal. … Make ownership of unlicensed assault rifles a felony. If some people refused to give up their guns, that ‘prying the guns from their cold, dead hands’ thing works for me.”
Third: “Then I would tie Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, our esteemed Republican leaders, to the back of a Chevy pickup truck and drag them around a parking lot until they saw the light on gun control.”

And if that didn’t work,” Kaul concludes, “I’d adopt radical measures.”
Kaul explains his dramatic measures this way: “The thing missing from the debate so far is anger – anger that we live in a society where something like the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre can happen and our main concern is not offending the NRA’s sensibilities.”
It would appear Kaul has supplied his missing ingredient.
