Scholar Pelosi: “We Avow the First Amendment and Say People Have the Right to Have a Gun” (Video)

- Jim Hoft

Well, she’s certainly no constitutional scholar. And, it’s really not surprising that she knows next to nothing on the subject. Scholar Nancy Pelosi told FOX News Sunday host Chris Wallace today,
“We avow the First Amendment. We stand with that and say that people have a right to have a gun to protect themselves. in their homes and their jobs, whatever, and that they — and the workplace and that they, for recreation and hunting and the rest.”

Obviously, the Second Amendment to the Constitution, not the First Amendment, protects the right to bear arms.

CHURCHGOER SHOOTS BACK WHEN TERRORISTS ATTACK

'History and common sense prove that gun-free zones are dangerous'
- Bob Unruh
“In Israel teachers and parents, serving as school aides, are armed at all times on school grounds, with semi-automatic weapons. Since this policy was adopted in the 1970s, attacks by gunmen at schools in Israel have ceased”
Charl Van Wyk, who carried a gun to a church service, shot back at terrorists bent on mass slaughter and ultimately was credited with saving hundreds of lives, says politicians should rise above the “politically correct” and do what’s right to save the lives of children and teachers.

Weighing in on the current debate in America over the public’s access to self-defense, he told WND that only in a “sheer utopian fantasy” would people expect that “homicidal maniacs” would follow gun laws.

“In Israel teachers and parents, serving as school aides, are armed at all times on school grounds, with semi-automatic weapons. Since this policy was adopted in the 1970s, attacks by gunmen at schools in Israel have ceased,” he said.

“In 2004 Thailand adopted a similar approach for safety of children. It may be politically incorrect, but it does have the advantage of saving the lives of innocent children and teachers. The policy? Encouraging teachers to carry firearms.” he continued.

“On 27 April 2004, the Associated Press reported, ‘Interior Minister Bhokin Bhalakula ordered provincial governors to give teachers licenses to buy guns if they want to even though it would mean bringing firearms into the classrooms when the region’s 925 schools reopen May 17 after two months of summer holiday.’

“Though Thailand’s government is extremely hostile to gun ownership in general, it has recognized that teachers ought to be able to safeguard their students and themselves,” he said.

“Maybe we can learn something from these countries.”

Currently, the Obama administration is offering numerous proposals to ban certain weapons, certain types and generally make the public’s access to firearms more difficult.

Van Wyk’s own story of self-defense – and the defense of the innocent – dates to July 25, 1993 – the day that would become known as the day of the St. James Massacre. That was when terrorists invaded the St. James Church in South Africa with automatic weapons. About a dozen members of the congregation were killed, and dozens more were injured.

But the terrorists fled when Van Wyk, who was carrying a handgun with him, returned fire, injuring one terrorist.

Van Wyk was recognized by authorities with a commendation for his actions, which likely saved dozens, if not hundreds, of lives.

NUGENT SMACKS 'GANGSTERS IN THE WHITE HOUSE'

Obama says he respects 2nd Amendment? 'And I'm a gay pirate'

Rock music legend Ted Nugent, one of the strongest voices in defense of the Second Amendment, is making his voice heard loud and clear as the latest debate over proposed gun-control legislation plays out.

Earlier in the week, Nugent engaged in a feisty debate with CNN host and gun-control advocate Piers Morgan. Despite the push for more restrictions on gun rights in Washington and in states around the country, Nugent fired back with a vigorous defense of what he says is the overwhelming majority of gun owners.

“99.99 percent of the gun owners of America are wonderful people that you are hanging around with here today, perfectly safe, perfectly harmless, wonderful, loving, giving, generous caring people. Would you leave us the hell alone?” demanded Nugent. “Go after the nut jobs. Go after the murderers, because I don’t know any.”

Nugent, who is also a National Rifle Association board member and now a WND columnist, was typically straight-talking with us as he assessed his confrontation with Morgan.

“I am convinced that Piers Morgan was sent by God to represent everything that doesn’t agree with Ted Nugent, because you’ve got to be the devil’s advocate or the devil to argue with me,” Nugent told WND. “I’m a simple man. I’m 64 years clean and sober. I never went to college because I was too busy learning stuff. …

“In fact, I’m saving money on dog food this week because I’m just letting my three Labradors lick the shrapnel from Piers’s skull out of my boot cleats,” he said.

Nugent then explained why he believes history and practice prove that taking away guns never mean greater safety for the people.

“If you try to argue that the Chicago, Mexico, Washington, D.C., Rwanda gun-free zone is somehow desirable, then you are either as equally evil as the murderers that slaughter innocent people in those gun-free zones or you are opening the door and rolling out the red carpet, that is red because it’s saturated with the blood of innocent victims that are piled higher in gun-free zones than anywhere in the world,” Nugent said.

“Anybody that dares debate me about what the Second Amendment means and whether free Americans have the right to keep and bear arms as a gift from God, a right from God as guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution, I will do to you what I did to Piers. I will embarrass you, and I will make you look like some subservient sheep from England,” he said.

The very first thing Nugent does in his new column is attack the premise that some firearms can be restricted because no one supposedly needs them.

“Common-sense people know it’s not the Bill of Needs. Common-sense people know you don’t need two homes and you don’t need more than one TV. Common-sense people know that quality of life and freedom has absolutely nothing to do with needs,” said Nugent. “Then when you scrutinize the self-evident truth of God-given individual rights, the Founding Fathers wrote it down, not because they got together and had a good idea. They knew that the king denied these self-evident truths and these God-given individual rights.

“So we wrote down the self-evident, truth-based, God-given rights that we the people in this new land, free of kings, free of emperors, free of tyrants, free of slave drivers, that we will exercise our God-given, instinctual, self-evident, truth-based right to self-defense from any evil force that threatens our gift of life from God and especially power-abusing monsters in government.”

Nugent said he also doesn’t buy President Obama’s claim that he’s proposing “common-sense” gun restrictions or Obama’s claim that he is a great respecter of the Second Amendment.

“I say sure you are, Mr. President, and I’m a gay pirate,” mused Nugent. “One just has to study Barack Obama’s voting record.

Crowd Shows Up In Defense of 2nd Amendment

- Freedom First

handgun_holster_ap980.jpgThree weeks ago the Oak Harbor city council convened to discuss whether public areas such as city parks, marinas, and council chambers, should be gun free zones in an effort to protect the public. City council member Rick Almberg first asked the mayor to inquire whether one of the attendees, Lucas Yonkman, had a weapon, then made an attempt at a motion to have attendees "check their weapon with the police chief or to leave the premise." which was then voted on. The motion did not pass. Almberg excused himself and left. Mayor Scott Dudley apologized to Yonkman, and commented on the oath of office, theU.S. Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Washington.

The council met again this past Tuesday, and this time there were 160 people in the crowd, many of whom were openly carrying holstered handguns, and rifles in defense of the 2nd Amendment and to show support for wounded Afghanistan veteran, Lucas Yonkman, whom Mr Almberg tried to have removed at the previous meeting. One attendee, Joe Hawkins, addressed Mr Almberg saying "Mr. Almberg, I just want you to know that I have a concealed ham sandwich right here. I don't want you to get up and walk away," and chuckled.

Many of the attendees were there to oppose the unconstitutional gun ban in city parks and the marina. Many spoke out in defense of the 2nd Amendment, and that gun free zones are killing zones, and that "more guns in public places make more people dead." The Second Amendment Foundation had threatened to sue if the ordinance wasn't overturned.
William Frail had an M-1 rifle on his shoulder as he testified. "Sir, my mother was Jew," he said. "My family went to the chambers. I will not go into the night quietly while these two ask me to board the train."
Lucas Yonkman addressed the council as well  "I come to you tonight with a heavy heart," Yonkman said. "I see a beautiful country divided and conflicted. I see a constitution being eroded, and the rights so many have fought and died for totally lost. I see men and woman who are elected leaders pushing personal agendas."
Yonkman believes the answer to mass shootings and community violence will be found in treating those with mental illness, instead of taking guns away.

A few people called for the resignation of fellow city council member, Almberg. The city council eventually voted to overturn the ban, which the interim city attorney, Grant Weed, had told the members was unconstitutional.  After the meeting, he said he hopes the city can move past this and get onto more important business.

Patriotic Mayor Upholds 2nd Amendment

- Freedom First

On January 15, 2013 a mayor stood up for the 2nd Amendment, Mayor Scott Dudley. It wouldn't be so surprising, except that in this political climate, with people like Professor Seidman urging Americans to give up on the U.S. Constitution, any show of patriotism is a heroic endeavor.

There was a city council meeting in Oak Harbor, WA, to discuss whether or not public places like city parks, or council chambers should be gun free zones. Wounded military Lucas Yonkman spoke out against it, saying that one of the reasons he carries is to protect himself and the ones around him should the need arise, after which City Councilman Rick Almberg asked Mayor Dudley to ask if Yonkman was "armed right now". Mayor Dudley replied "Would it matter?", then asked the city attorney if "we have to ask". The city attorney answered that "this is the time set aside for the council to accept citizen comments. I'm not sure that there's anything in your council rules or procedures that invite the council to ask questions in return but if the individual is willing to answer the question that's fine but this is the time for citizens to address the council, not the other way around." Mr. Yonkman replied that he was "fully comfortable answering that question. Yes I have a conceal carry permit and I am conceal carrying at this moment. I would hope that people felt comfortable with that due to the fact that I am a trained professional with a weapon and that I served my country for over five years in Afghanistan and sustained wounds in protection of those rights and if there was an issue I would protect any person whether I knew them or not with my own life so I hope you feel comfortable with that."

At which time Almberg made a motion to ask them to check their weapon with the police chief or leave the premises. The motion was seconded and voted on, Almberg and another councilman voted "aye" and four councilman voted against it. Almberg then excused himself and left the chambers.

Mayor Scott Dudley then asked interim city attorney, Grant Weed, about the legality of Almberg's motion. He said that "because of the pre-emption in state law as I think I may have alluded to earlier tonight such an action would be invalid and unforceable and likely would not be a lawful directive in the event a police chief or others were asked to enforce such action, but since such action was not taken it essentially becomes moot."

The next thing that happened was something that in the past would have been commonplace, routine, a city mayor referred the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and defended it. There are those, like Almberg, who side with our tyrannical government, who are making continual attempts to undermine the U.S. Constitution, do away with the Rule of Law and create "feel good" laws that do nothing but undermine what our Founding Fathers stood for, in an effort to create a new society. Mayor Dudley should be applauded for his outstanding comments made after the failed motion to create a gun free zone in the council chambers.

Here's what he said: "That's exactly what seems to be the understanding, I apologize to....  Mr. Yonkman for the situation where in this case we have a couple council member and these were the same council members that also tried to dictate whether you could wear a hat in council chambers now are trying to take your right to bear arms away. They're stating that whether it's their fearful or uncomfortable because of your attendance. I on the other hand feel safer that you're here. If we were to play out hypotheticals in reference to an elected official being concerned about somebody harming it's not going to be coming from the likes of you. So, I appreciate your attendance this evening I think it definitely opens the eyes of the public in reference to how some elected officials are choosing to go up and beyond the scope of their elected position to take away your rights. As a council member," he then held up his framed oath of office, "we end up having to take an oath. This was my oath when I was on the city council. We as council members have to solemnly swear that we would support the Constitution of the United States and the constitution and laws of the State of Washington that we would faithfully and impartially perform and discharge the duties of the office of council member of the city of Oak Harbor. We have to swear to that, that we take that oath. This evening we had a couple council members that were doing just the opposite. And so I apologize for that possible action. I'm glad that we didn't get to that point but once again I apologize for you having to go through that, you took that in great stride. You didn't have to answer the questions by some council members, you still chose to do that, that being said. We need to remember the oath that we took whether it's as a mayor, whether it's as city council members that we are not able to, no matter how much you want to, infringe on the rights of others. That's not our job you're not able to do that."

There are many people like Mayor Dudley, willing to speak out in defense of the U.S. Constitution, there need to be more.

Gun Shop Owner: Piers Morgan Did A Hatchet Job On Me

CNN host lied to Texas firing range owner over “live” segment
- Steve Watson

When Infowars’ Alex Jones appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight, he directly accused the host of being “A hatchet man for the new world order.” A gun shop owner in Texas found this statement quite accurate this week, noting that Morgan completely misled and misrepresented him in an interview designed purely to make Morgan look more knowledgeable on firearms.
Morgan traveled to Tactical Firearms in Katy, Texas to meet with owner Jeremy Alcede to film what he believed would be a live segment.
“He said, ‘well, I’d like to learn more about guns. People criticize me, saying, how can I be against guns if I don’t know anything about guns?’” Alcede told reporters for KIAH-TV news.
“I said man, this is going to be really good, he really is wanting to find out.” Alcede said.
“You won’t be able to accuse me of knowing nothing about how guns work after this,” tweeted Morgan in anticipation of the segment.
However, the firing range owner soon found out how Morgan and CNN really operate, when he watched the re-run of the show only to discover that the segment he was told was airing live was actually completely edited.
“They completely misrepresented what I wanted to get across, completely,” Alcede said.
“The points that I did make were just garbled to the point that people were asking why was I speaking in broken sentences,” he added.
Alcede noted that the clip would cut to him and he was wearing glasses, then in the next sentence he was without the glasses and with hearing protection.
“They just chopped it up so bad it wasn’t even funny.” he said.
Alcede had invited Alex Jones to the shop in order that he could confront Morgan in a civilized manner. He had told Alex that CNN intended to broadcast live. When Jones arrived he instantly noticed something amiss, having the knowledge and experience that he does about live transmission.
Alex asked Morgan if they were going live during the segment, to which Morgan replied that for the most part the segment would be broadcast live.
Watch the clip:
The fact that none of the segment was broadcast live, and was heavily edited to make Alcede seem rambling and incoherent, shows how duplicitous Piers Morgan is. He has a clear anti-Second Amendment agenda, which is why all of the positive points Alcede made ended up on a cutting room floor.
Alcede proved he is an intelligent and knowledgeable firearms expert in a subsequent appearance on the Alex Jones Show this week, where he was able to make his points LIVE, without fear of being edited and made to look a fool.

BRUCE WILLIS: DON’T MESS WITH THE SECOND AMENDMENT

- Becket Adams

Hollywood legend Bruce Willis has a message for advocates of stricter gun control legislation: Don’t infringe on my rights.

“I think that you can’t start to pick apart anything out of the Bill of Rights without thinking that it’s all going to become undone,” Willis told The Associated Press while promoting his latest action extravaganza, “A Good Day to Die Hard.”

“If you take one out or change one law, then why wouldn’t they take all your rights away from you?” he asked.

The actor adds that he thinks “the real topic is diminished” when people try to blame Hollywood for mass shootings.

“No one commits a crime because they saw a film. There’s nothing to support that,” Willis said. “We’re not making movies about people that have gone berserk, or gone nuts. Those kind of movies wouldn’t last very long at all.”

Willis, like many supporters of the Second Amendment, says that he doesn’t understand how stricter gun control laws, like the ones recently passed in New York, will prevent another Aurora or Sandy Hook shooting.

“It’s a difficult thing and I really feel bad for those families,” he said. “I’m a father and it’s just a tragedy. But I don’t know how you legislate insanity. I don’t know what you do about it. I don’t even know how you begin to stop that.”

SECOND GRADER PLAYING ‘RESCUE THE WORLD’ AT RECESS SUSPENDED

AFTER THROWING PRETEND GRENADE AT ‘EVIL FORCES’ (WITH ADORABLE INTERVIEW!)
- Erica Ritz

7 Year Old Alex Evans Suspended for Throwing Fake Grenade at Pretend Box of Evil Forces During Rescue the World Game at Recess
(Photo: Fox 31)

It’s getting harder and harder to be a kid these days. Back in the day, children frequently played “cops and robbers” and other good vs. bad games at recess and around the house. Now they’re getting punished for it.

On the heels of three 6-year-olds being suspended for making gun signs with their hands during recess and a 5-year-old girl being suspended and labeled a “terrorist threat” for threatening to shoot her friend with a “Hello Kitty” bubble gun, a 7-year-old Colorado boy at Loveland’s Mary Blair Elementary School is reportedly in a similar position.

So what did he do? Apparently the 2nd grader was playing “rescue the world” at recess when he threw a pretend grenade at a make-believe box full of “evil forces.” There wasn’t actually anything in his hand, nor was there a real box.

“I was trying to save people and I just can’t believe I got dispended,” Alex Evans said. After demonstrating how the game is played, he said he threw fake grenade at the box “so nothing can get out and destroy the world.”

TED NUGENT GOES OFF ON PIERS MORGAN DURING FIERY GUN DEBATE: ‘YOU’RE SO FULL OF CRAP’

- Jason Howerton

Rock legend Ted Nugent sat down with CNN’s Piers Morgan in a Texas gun shop on Monday to talk, well, guns. Nugent blasted Morgan over his apparent “obsession with guns” and told him to leave responsible American gun owners “the hell alone.”

Morgan began the interview by asking his guest to explain to him, “in the least inflammatory way possible,” why any American needs to own an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. Morgan had just gotten done shooting an AR-15 at a gun range and said he was surprised by the power it possessed.

After first offering prayers to the Chris Kyle and Littlefield families, Nugent told Morgan to “take it to the bank” that he would never understand the true purpose of firearms.

“You don’t understand that it’s a simple inanimate tool that tens of millions of American families own that have never caused a problem, never had an accident and will never commit a crime,” Nugent said.

Morgan countered by saying 100,000 Americans get hit by gunfire each year.

“Let me stop you there, because I’ve been hearing you say this and you’re so full of crap. Listen to me, that statistic includes bad guys shot by cops and intruders shot by homeowners. So that figure is bogus,” Nugent shot back.

Then Morgan explained that 18,000 people commit suicide using a gun every year in the U.S., to which Nugent quickly replied: “Japan has a higher suicide rate and they aren’t allowed to get downwind of a gun. You’re turn.”

“Do you care about murders?” Nugent pressed. “Or do you only care about about murders with guns?”

“I care about all death,” Morgan replied.

“I don’t think you do. I think you care about guns. I think You’re obsessed with guns,” Nugent said, before going off on a fiery diatribe defending gun owners in America.
“99.99% of the gun owners of America are wonderful people that you are hanging around with here today. Perfectly safe. Perfectly harmless. Wonderful, loving, giving, generous caring people. Would you leave us the hell alone? Go after the nut jobs, go after the murderers, because I don’t know any. We need to lock up the bad guys and when people show dangerous, murderous intent, which everyone one of these mass murderers showed. All their neighbors, their family, their teachers, their fellow students, they all knew they were crazy but, Piers, we didn’t stop them because we’re worried about hurting their feelings. We have a mad man problem in America…”

The Episcopal Diocese of NH's Stance on Gun Violence

New Hampshire's Episcopal Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori issued a statement recently declaring their stance on gun violence and in essence, urging Episcopalian members to abandon their 2nd Amendment rights granted them by the U.S. Constitution to grant the U.S. government more control over already over-regulated, under-enforced firearms purchased.

Stand up for your rights and DO NOT contact your congressperson/representative to ask for more gun control. But DO ask your congressperson/representative to do their part to stand up and uphold their oath to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution as well as working with the appropriate agencies to enforce the laws already passed, and do the background checks according to the existing laws.

Don't give muslim Barack HUSSEIN Obama the chance to disarm American citizens and turn regular law-abiding citizens into subjects.

Presiding Bishop on gun violence: Call today

Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori on gun violence
Call-in on Monday, February 4
UPDATED February 4: Call 1-888-897-0174
[February 1, 2013] Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori has issued the following statement.
_____________________________________________________________
The United States has witnessed far too many public shootings in recent months and years. Far too many lives have been cut short or maimed by both random and targeted acts of gun violence. The school shooting in Newtown was horrific, yet since that day several times as many young people have died by gunshot.

It is abundantly clear that Americans are ready to grapple with the complexities of gun violence. The Spirit is moving across this land to mobilize people of faith to act. I urge the United States members of this Church to call your federal legislators on Monday 4 February to express your concern and your expectation that gun violence be addressed. The outlines of the necessary policy decisions are clear and widely supported: limits on sales of military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines, effective background checks for all gun purchases, better access to mental health services, and attention to gun trafficking.

We believe all God's people should be able to live in peace, as Zechariah dreams, "old men and women shall again sit in the streets...And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing."  The prophet reminds his hearers that even if this seems impossible, with God it is not. [Zech 8:4-6]  I urge you to add your voice to those clamoring for peace. Call your legislators and sue for peace.

15 Minute video EVERY American MUST watch! Tyranny in America! It's happening NOW!

Must See TV: New Yorkers Revolt At Gun Ban Q/A; Communist Gun Grabbers Are Here

New Yorkers Revolt At Gun Ban Meeting: Communist
Gun Grabbers Are Here; Talk Of Forming Militia
Video Excerpts & Full Video Via Liberty Pursuit:

Full Video/Details Via Liberty Pursuit @ YouTube: Residents of Erie County, New York overflow the State's dictating / Q & A forum concerning the unconstitutional NY Safe Act arms bill.

The passion and anger from the people is evident of Erie County resistance.

After the first speaker spoke, the second one was introduced. A request from an audience member to recite the Pledge of Allegiance was ignored by the State. So the people took over and assertively recited it anyway.

The State attempted to have private interviews with the media which alienated the crowd further, who then demanded transparency. Then the State wanted the questions from the audience to be private, which riled folks even more.

Questions asked by Western New Yorkers covered: non-compliance, penalties, jury nullification, 2nd Amendment profiling into domestic terrorists, government tyranny, police, sheriff, and more.

Other topics, and especially on the people forming militias was missed due to full camera memory.

MAYOR BOOKER: 'LEGAL GUN BUYERS AREN'T CAUSING MURDERS IN NEWARK, CHICAGO AND OTHER PLACES'

Huge thumbs up to Mayor Booker for defending the U.S. Constitution's 2nd Amendment. - Freedom First

CORY BOOKER, NEWARK MAYOR (D-N.J.): To me, the data should drive our decision making. So I know, I’m not afraid of people having guns who are law abiding citizens. In the analysis of gun murders and shootings in my city, I could only find one in the entire time I’ve been mayor – and unfortunately there have been hundreds and hundreds – where a person who was involved in a shooting where they had their gun legally, where they legally acquired their gun. The guns that are causing carnage in our cities, my city and our country, every single year are acquired illegally.

Shameless Gun-grabbers Run Ad During Super Bowl

- Infowars.com

Mayor Bloomberg and his coalition of officials opposed to Americans exercising their Second Amendment right will run the following ad during the third quarter of today’s Super Bowl:

The ad will only run in Washington, D.C.

Forbes reports:
While the ad will reach an influential audience in DC, it looks like Mayors Against Illegal Guns is trying reach a larger audience via the buzz it is generating from the ad. The homepage of its demandaplan.com website, its url featured in the ad, prompts visitors to “Watch our Super Bowl ad, then join us in standing up to the gun lobby and demanding background checks for all gun sales.” Underneath the embedded ad, the website gives visitors plenty of options to get involved, including a petition to sign, a form that will send an email to congress and another that will connect visitors on a call directly with their Senator’s office.

Rev. Jesse Jackson Says Gun Supporters Are Domestic Terrorists

- Kurt Nimmo

During an interview with the Wall Street Journal posted on January 30, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said “anti-government people” espousing what amounts to a “Confederate ideology” will engage in terrorist activities unless the government enacts draconian laws restricting the possession of firearms.

Jackson said the Second Amendment provides these domestic terrorists with the ability to “do something about how they feel” in their effort to “fight the government.”

The phrase “Confederate ideology” is shorthand for a political philosophy that stresses states’ rights (including nullification) and adherence to the Constitution.

New York Rep. Charlie Rangel said in January that Southern culture – a specific reference to gun culture prevalent in the South – is something that Democrats must work to overcome. “New York is a little different and more progressive in a lot of areas than some other states and some of the southern areas have cultures that we have to overcome,” Rangel told MSNBC.

Jackson, a former Democrat presidential contender and the founder of the Rainbow Coalition, said in August that the AR-15 semiautomatic rifle is the preferred weapon “for domestic, homegrown terrorism.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center has also linked Second Amendment activists to terrorists. The organization argues the “radical right” is exploiting the gun rights issue to push a white supremacist political ideology. The SPLC has worked closely with the Department of Homeland Security. In 2009, a leaked DHS document revealed the agency’s obsession with “Rightwing Extremists.”

In early December, sports columnist Jason Whitlock likened the NRA to the Ku Klux Klan, the racist organization established during Reconstruction by former Confederate soldiers.

“You know, I did not go as far as I’d like to go because my thoughts on the NRA and America’s gun culture — I believe the NRA is the new KKK,” Whitlock told CNN’s Roland Martin.

Whitlock’s comments inspired a widely-covered Bob Costas’ anti-Second Amendment halftime screed during a Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game broadcast live on NBC television.

Jackson’s comments underscore an ongoing effort by Democrats and other so-called progressives to characterize Second Amendment activists as domestic terrorists.

D.C. STATION SHUTS DOWN POLITICAL SPEECH

Airtime purchase refused for 'Come and Take It'- WND
GunBarrel

A Washington, D.C., radio station has refused to sell airtime for a political statement from the writer-actor-singer who performed for years as television’s Buck Howdy – deeming it too “controversial.”

“How sad that we live in a time when a message supporting the Constitution is deemed too controversial,” Grammy-winning musician Steve Vaus, creator of the Buck Howdy character, told WND today.

He has recorded a song that defies those advocating gun confiscation with one of the slogans of the Texas Revolution, “Come and take it.”

Vaus said he had attempted to purchase air time on WMAL News/Talk to play his recording, but was rejected.

An email from General Sales Manager Todd Freundlich, forwarded by Vaus, said, “After reviewing the spot with my program director we have determined that it is too controversial for us to air.”

His email continued, “Sorry that we can’t help you with this but if I can answer any additional questions please let me know.”

It doesn’t appear, however, that the bump in the road will stop Vaus.

“Nothing will stop me from getting this message heard in Washington, D.C. If I have to stand in front of the White House and the Capitol Building with a boom box so be it,” Vaus said.

He had requested the prices and information for a one-minute spot, he said.
Steve Vaus
Steve Vaus

WND previously had reported the song, “Come and Take It,” was written to rally gun owners with its remember-the-Alamo-like message.

A music video also was produced with a special message for Barack Obama and members of Congress.

Though the song itself is more vague, the video leaves no doubt who Vaus is talking to in the lyrics.

“Mr. President, members of Congress,” Vaus says in the opening to the video, “you’ve been making a lot of noise about taking our guns away. But you might want to review history.

“1835. Gonzales, Texas Territory,” Vaus continues. “The authorities wanted to confiscate the big gun that protected that colony. You know what the people said? ‘Come and take it.’ Because they were willing to fight for their freedom and their guns. So are we.”

The video then launches into the pointed chorus: “Come and take it if you want it. Come and take it if you think you can. Come and take it, but we’ll warn you, you’ll have to pry it from our cold, dead hands.”

16 Media Myths About Proposals To Strengthen Gun Laws

- Timothy Johnson, Media Matters
Below is an excerpt from the original article with links that lead to the article. I have included a small sampling of answers to the questions. For the full article go here. - Freedom First

MYTH: The Federal Government Doesn't Currently Perform Background Checks On Gun Purchasers

Mamet In Newsweek On Background Checks: "How Are They Checked? Are They Checked? By What Agency, With What Monies?" In his Newsweek cover story, playwright David Mamet was seemingly ignorant of the fact that federal law requires individuals who purchase firearms from licensed dealers to undergo a criminal background check:
Yes, but we should check all applicants for firearms for a criminal record?
Anyone applying to purchase a handgun has, since 1968, filled out a form certifying he is not a fugitive from justice, a convicted criminal, or mentally deficient. These forms, tens and tens of millions of them, rest, conceivably, somewhere in the vast repository. How are they checked? Are they checked? By what agency, with what monies? The country is broke. Do we actually want another agency staffed by bureaucrats for whom there is no funding? [Newsweek1/28/13]

FACT: While There Is No Federal Background Check Requirement For Private Transactions, Sales Through A Licensed Dealer Are Checked

FBI Has Run Instant Background Checks On Purchases From Licensed Dealers For More Than A Decade. From the FBI website:
The National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, is all about saving lives and protecting people from harm -- by not letting guns and explosives fall into the wrong hands. It also ensures the timely transfer of firearms to eligible gun buyers.
Mandated by the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 and launched by the FBI on November 30, 1998, NICS is used by Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) to instantly determine whether a prospective buyer is eligible to buy firearms or explosives. Before ringing up the sale, cashiers call in a check to the FBI or to other designated agencies to ensure that each customer does not have a criminal record or isn't otherwise ineligible to make a purchase. More than 100 million such checks have been made in the last decade, leading to more than 700,000 denials. [FBI, accessed 1/29/13]

MYTH: The Public Is Already Generally Prohibited From Owning Assault Weapons

Mamet: Assault Weapons "Have Been Illegal In Private Hands ... Since 1934." In his Newsweek piece, Mamet claimed that only automatic weapons regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934 are assault weapons and therefore "[t]he so-called assault weapons ban is a hoax ... The guns it supposedly banned have been illegal (as above) for 78 years":
An assault weapon is that which used to be called a "submachine gun." That is, a handheld long gun that will fire continuously as long as the trigger is held down.
These have been illegal in private hands (barring those collectors who have passed the stringent scrutiny of the Federal Government) since 1934. Outside these few legal possessors, there are none in private hands. They may be found in the hands of criminals. But criminals, let us reflect, by definition, are those who will not abide by the laws. What purpose will passing more laws serve?
[...]
The so-called assault weapons ban is a hoax. It is a political appeal to the ignorant. The guns it supposedly banned have been illegal (as above) for 78 years. Did the ban make them "more" illegal? The ban addresses only the appearance of weapons, not their operation. [Newsweek1/28/13]

FACT: The Recently Proposed Assault Weapons Ban Seeks To Outlaw Presently Legal Weapons

New Senate Bill Seeks To Ban 157 Specific Weapons That Are Currently Legal. A press release on Sen. Dianne Feinstein's (D-CA) introduction of a new assault weapons ban states:
[T]he bill prohibits the sale, manufacture, transfer and importation of 157 of the most commonly-owned military-style assault weapons. It also bans an additional group of assault weapons that can accept a detachable ammunition magazine and have one or more military characteristics. [Feinstein.senate.gov, accessed 1/29/13]
Violence Policy Center: Gun Industry Launched Campaign To Attempt To Rebrand Assault Weapons As "Modern Sporting Rifles." A June 2011 report on the militarization of firearms by gun manufacturers described how opponents of assault weapons bans have attempted to obfuscate the issue with semantic arguments, launching a media campaign to paint semi-automatic assault weapons as sporting rifles:
In November 2009, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) announced that--"due to gun owners' concerns over President-elect Obama and possible legislation regulating the Second Amendment rights of Americans"--it had placed on its website a "media resource...to help clear up much of the confusion and misinformation about so-called 'assault weapons.'"
This was the opening salvo in the industry's meretricious campaign to "rebrand" semiautomatic assault weapons as "modern sporting rifles." The point of the campaign--inspired by the pummeling the industry gets for selling killing machines--is apparently that semiautomatic assault rifles are really just another sporting gun, no different from an older generation of bolt-action and low-capacity rifles. [Violence Policy Center, June 2011]

MYTH: The Assault Weapons Ban Would Outlaw Most Handguns

Townhall News Editor Katie Pavlich: Proposed Ban Would Cover "Nearly Every Semi-Automatic Handgun In The United States." In a December 28 article, Pavlich suggested that because the assault weapons ban was slated to cover semi-automatic handguns with "one or more military characteristics" that it would apply to "nearly every semi-automatic handgun in the United States." [Townhall, 12/28/12]

FACT: The Ban Only Covers Military-Style Assault Pistols

Assault Weapons Ban Legislation: Banned Pistols Are Handgun Variations Of Assault Rifles. [Dianne Feinstein, United States Senator for California, accessed 1/29/13]
Violence Policy Center: Assault Pistols "Have The Penetrating Power Of An Assault Rifle In The Concealable Format Of A Pistol." A January 2013 VPC report described how assault pistols use ammunition that more easily penetrates police body armor:
This increase in the quantity of makes and models has been matched by an increase in the quality of their lethality. Whereas the earlier generation of assault pistols were primarily high-capacity military-style pistols in 9mm or 45 caliber, the most popular models today are derived from military style assault rifles, such as the AK-47 and AR-15. As a result, they have the penetrating power of an assault rifle in the concealable format of a pistol. Whereas the most commonly worn levels of police body armor would be able to protect the wearer from a 9mm or 45 caliber handgun round, a .223 or 7.62 rifle round would be far more likely to penetrate. The Civilian Marksmanship Program

- redhatrob

One of the things I dislike intensely is the attempt to re-write history.
The assertion that the 2nd amendment was never intended to allow private citizens to own military style weapons is a particularly obnoxious, ideologically-driven example of willful ignorance.
Other writers have done extensive research on the intentions and meanings of the amendment to those who proposed, adopted & ratified the amendments in 1791.
CMP BadgeOverlooked in the debate (at least so far I haven’t seen any citation) has been the quiet, ongoing work of providing military rifles and training to citizens carried out by the Civilian Marksmanship Program for the past 110 years. Recently converted to a congressionally chartered 501(c)(3) corporation, the CMP continues to receive donated .22 and .30 caliber rifles directly from the US Army and provides them at cost to civilians. Before 1996, the CMP was administered directly by the US Army.
“Any U.S. citizen who is not legally prohibited from owning a firearm may purchase a military surplus rifle from the CMP, provided they are a member of a CMP affiliated club.” There are CMP clubs in all 50 states. There are 139 such clubs in TN alone.
The CMP has been providing military grade weapons to US citizens since 1903.
The main infantry battle rifle of WW2, the Garand M1 has been available for years, and continues to be sold – including “sniper” models. You can also buy a Garand bayonet.
Oh, and by the way, the M1 Garand clip (it uses a clip, not a magazine) holds 8 rounds. Every M1 Garand 8-round clip has just been declared a prohibited, contraband item by the New York state legislature – at the same time that the US government is supplying those clips from their armory surpluses to the CMP for sale to civilians.
Military-style rifles, with high-capacity clips, and not just bayonet lugs, but actual bayonets – sold the the US public by the US Army. The horrors!
And a stubborn fact that destroys the argument that the 2nd amendment was never intended to allow civilians to own military-style rifles.

Gun control supporters urge Obama to bypass Congress on new measures

- Shannon Bream, Fox News

As Congress debates various gun control measures, President Obama is publicly putting the heat on Capitol Hill.

"The only way that we're going to be able to do everything that needs to be done is with the cooperation of Congress," he said Monday while hosting law enforcement officials from around the country.

But Supporters of tougher gun controls are growing increasingly worried lawmakers won't pass any substantial measures and have begun to focus their efforts elsewhere. A number of Obama allies across the country have called on public employee pension funds to divest of any holdings linked to the gun industry.

"City of Los Angeles pension funds should not go to profit companies that produce weapons designed to maximize carnage and death," Mayor Antonia Villaraigosa vowed.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a former Obama White House chief of staff, has made the same commitment and gone a step further. Emanuel has authored letters to Bank of America and TD Bank because they maintain multimillion-dollar lines of credit for major gun manufacturers. In the letters, Emanuel urges the banks to use their influence to "push" the manufacturers to go along with the president's tough new gun controls.
