OBAMA'S COMMERCE PICK IS MAJOR MEDIA MATTERS FUNDER

Presidential campaign bundler chaired failed bank seized by feds
- Aaron Klein

President Obama is close to choosing Chicago businesswoman Penny Pritzker, the finance chair of his 2008 presidential campaign, as his next commerce secretary, according to multiple news media accounts.

WND first exposed that Pritzker is a primary funder of the radical Media Matters for America activist group.

Other questions may be raised about Pritzker’s financial history, primarily her family’s ownership of a bank that was seized and shut down by the feds in 2001 after it was accused of unsound financial activities and predatory lending practices.

Pritzker herself served as chairman of the failed bank, Superior Bank, from 1991-1994.

Last year, Media Matters found itself in hot water after the Daily Caller exposed the group’s purported illicit tactics, including compiling a de facto enemies list; announcing an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel; and reportedly seeking to investigate the personal lives of reporters and news personalities.

The information came amid reports White House staffers held regular meetings and even a weekly conference call with Media Matters

Army should fire author of report on conservative terrorism

Flag

- Bill Wilson

Individuals enlisting in the U.S. Armed Forces must swear an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” But what happens when the only crime perpetrated by the “enemy” is supporting and defending the Constitution?

Such is the dilemma facing future military officers at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point — who are being taught to view freedom-loving Americans as violent, racist terrorists-in-waiting. As part of the federal government’s ongoing jihad against common-sense fiscal conservatism and constitutionally limited government, West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center (CTC) has issued a new report making some dangerously irrational generalizations about the “far-right.”

Entitled “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right,” the West Point report provides a stunningly one-sided demonization of conservative ideology — and simultaneous embrace of “progressive” liberal thought.

Written by Dr. Arie Perliger, director of terrorism studies at the CTC, the report warns of the rising militancy of so-called “anti-federalists” — or Americans who embrace radical notions like “civil activism, individual freedoms and self-government.” In other words, anyone expressing support for the fundamental democratic ideals upon which our nation was founded could be a terrorist.

According to Perliger, these “anti-federalists” are dangerous because they “espouse strong convictions regarding the federal government, believing it to be corrupt and tyrannical, with a natural tendency to intrude on individuals’ civil and constitutional rights.”

Wait — government isn’t corrupt? And warrantless wiretaps, forced participation in a Social Security Ponzi scheme and Barack Obama’s health insurance mandate aren’t intrusions on our liberties?

Of course they are — but apparently exercising one’s First Amendment freedom to speak out against these assaults on liberty is a one-way ticket to a government watch list. However, advocating vociferously in support of these anti-American policies is completely permissible.

Ted Nugent on Obama

‘When a man, can dictate to another man, an unarmed helplessness, such a dictator is dangerous’
- Mike Piccione

Ted Nugent, the 64-year-old rock star and NRA board member, unloaded his opinion on current gun control measures, America’s elected leaders and gun-free zones to the team at Guns.com while at the annual SHOT show.

The SHOT show, which is being held this year in Las Vegas, is the nation’s largest shooting industry trade show, with approximately 60,000 attendees.

Nugent was a veritable gun-rights quote machine at the event.

“If you want another Concord Bridge, I’ve got some buddies,” he said. “Anyone who questions the most basic fundamental right of self-defense is a dangerous, freedom threatening, scary person that we must beat down.”

On gun free zones: “What kind of subhuman mongrel would want more of that?”

On the New York gun control measure: “When you are forced into unarmed helplessness, and your firepower is restricted, then evil will do with you what they want to do with you.” (RELATED: New York gun law mistakenly bans cops from carrying most of their weapons)

The Big List of Who Hates Guns

- Mike Piccione

I was cruising the web reading gun articles and then I started wondering about writing an article on anti-gun organizations and people. Since anti-gunners are always saying “no one wants to take your guns away” or they want me to live under their take of “sensible gun laws” (neither of which I believe to be prudent, sensible or anything remotely truthful) I figured I would go to the NRA’s Institute of Legislative Action to find out who are the people that want to be sure that I can’t defend my home or go shooting my .22 in the woods (both heinous acts of human behavior to be sure).

So, hats off the the NRA-ILA team for compiling this list. Here is what the NRA-ILA team had to say.

The following organizations have lent monetary, grassroots or some other type of direct support to anti-gun organizations. In many instances, these organizations lent their name in support of specific campaigns to pass anti-gun legislation such as the March 1995 HCI “Campaign to Protect Sane Gun Laws.” Many of these organizations were listed as “Campaign Partners,” for having pledged to fight any efforts to repeal the Brady Act and the Clinton “assault weapons” ban. All have officially endorsed anti-gun positions.
